In the rapidly evolving realm of roll-ups within the crypto sector, Starknet has shown impressive growth, particularly in daily active addresses and daily transactions.
While the crypto community has been largely focused on zkSync Era and Polygon [MATIC] zkEVM, largely due to airdrops and NFT unveilings, Starknet has been discreetly and steadily increasing its user base.
Surpassing not only other roll-ups but also a layer-2 in a crucial metric, Starknet is gearing up for expansion. Seven recent developments within its ecosystem further indicate potential growth.
Starknet’s Achievements Under the Spotlight
A tweet by Deebs DeFi, a renowned Twitter account offering on-chain crypto insights, brought attention to Starknet’s significant progress. As of 28 July 2023, Starknet eclipsed both Optimism and ZkSync Era with daily active addresses reaching a commendable 400,000.
This surge suggests an uptick in Starknet’s adoption and popularity. An examination of the current metrics shows that all three networks maintain roughly equal active addresses. However, Starknet’s transactions witnessed a significant upswing, hitting 560,000 in a single day, surpassing ZkSync and nearing Optimism’s numbers. During this period, zkEVM lagged behind.
Highlighting Starknet’s progress, its TVL (Total Value Locked) saw a 90% surge, indicating a flourishing DeFi sector within the roll-up. Specifically, its TVL rose from 14 million to over 26 million in a month, suggesting that it might soon outstrip zkEVM.
A Bright Horizon for Starknet
With its metrics consistently on the rise, Starknet is further buoyed by various developments within its ecosystem. A tweet from Starknet Insider enumerated some of these.
Tsubasa Starknet’s launch promises a riveting on-chain gaming experience amalgamating football, fantasy, and anime themes. The NFT sector also saw a boost with SPONZI unveiling an exclusive 111 OG NFT collection on Starknet, anticipated to attract new users.
Furthermore, Starknet’s imminent v.0.12.1 upgrade, slated to debut on the testnet next Monday, promises to halve the sequencer processing load. This upgrade is set to accelerate the roll-up transaction processing speed, bolstering Starknet’s already optimistic outlook.
